About the Author

Beverly Otto, Ph.D., an early childhood educator for over 25 years, is a professor in the Teacher Education Department at Northeastern Illinois University.  She earned her doctorate at Northwestern University in Teaching and Learning Processes with a focus on emergent literacy.  Dr. Otto teaches courses in language and literacy development for preservice and inservice teachers, along with research for classroom teachers. She also serves as advisor for the MAT: Language Arts-Elementary Education and MSI: Language Arts-Elementary programs.  Her major professional goal is preparing teachers to support children’s life-long learning through language and literacy development. Dr. Otto has also served as department chair as well as associate dean in the College of Education.

     Dr. Otto is the author of Language Development in Early Childhood, 2nd edition (Merrill/Prentice Hall), and has also authored articles published in international, national and state professional journals.  Her field-based research on emergent literacy has been presented at international, national, state, and local conferences. She has served as a consultant to early childhood centers, school districts, as well as the Illinois State Board of Education.

The Sanhaja Almoravids emerged from the Sahara in the 1050s to conquer vast territories and halt the Christian advance in Iberia. They were replaced a century later by their rivals, the Almohads, supported by the Masmuda Berbers of the High Atlas. Although both have often been seen as uncouth, religiously intolerant tribesmen who undermined the high culture of al-Andalus, this book argues that the eleventh to thirteenth centuries were crucial to the Islamisation of the Maghrib, its integration into the Islamic cultural sphere, and its emergence as a key player in the western Mediterranean, and that much of this was due to these oft-neglected Berber empires.

Tanto se habla por internet de esta dieta, pero el libro deja mucho que desear, te deriva siempre a la consulta privada. Si es verdad que te explica los diferentes métodos de concepción, si temperatura basal, moco cervical, etc, pero no te dice claramente haz esto o aquello porque como indico, te dice que cada mujer es diferente y te tienen que valorar y dar tu dieta según 'su' valoración.. en cuanto a la dieta pone como muy pocos alimentos tanto de niño como de niña..Quizas lo recomendaria para aprender a conocerte un poco mas tu cuerpo, pero no para elección del sexo porque poco te pone, lo que hay en el libro lo pone por internet, si quieres niño, mas sodio y potasio y si quieres niña quita el sodio, mas lacteos y mas magnesio, vamos, eso me lo he encontrado en varias paginas de internet y teniendo el libro.. una pena

El libro que recibí estaba con las páginas de la izquierda al revés. Mal encuadernado.

Sin haber investigado mucho sobre el método decidí adquirir el libro. No dudo en que funcione o no, pero no es indicado para todo el mundo. Porque si estás siguiendo un tratamiento hormonal por otras causas, no permite hacer el estudio previo al embarazo que requiere el método.

Playwright, filmmaker and novelist Pagnol (1895-1974) affectionately celebrated his native Provence along with the shrewdness and comic foibles of the folk. Jean Cadoret is a hunchback of charm and intelligence who comes from town to settle on his inherited estate where he plans to farm scientifically. His wife Aimee, a former small-time opera singer, and adoring little daughter Manon work by his side. But the jealous Soubeyransthe local patriarch Cesar and his nephew, the clownish Ugolincraftily plug up a spring on Jean's farm and wait for him to fail. When a cruel summer drought drives Jean to despair and eventually death, the Soubeyrans buy his land cheaply and divert the water for their own lucrative carnation farm. In the sequel, Manon appears as a picturesque goat-girl/dryad, scampering over the rocks in cast-off opera gear and playing her pipes. She avenges her parents and falls in love. The end brings astonishing revelations. Pagnol depicts his villagers as post-Roman pagans whose "natural brutality" shows through their Christian veneer. As in the author's earlier naturalist novels, the landscape and the willful spring are forces molding human fates. Those who offend nature, here lushly described, pay a penalty. There are eight pages of photos (not seen by PW), from the recently released films, which follow the novels closely.
